Youth Hatch !

Picture
“Youth Hatch! – Incubator for social innovation in youth work” was a 6-day training course (travel days not included) focused on project management and social entrepreneurship in EU youth work (Erasmus+). The main aim was to develop social entrepreneurial skills for youth workers and volunteers in youth work. This will enable them to develop innovative approaches to cater for the needs of the young people they work with on local and European level.

The TC brought together 36 volunteers from 11 EU member states (AT, BE, CZ, DE, ES, IRE, IT, MT, PL, SI, UK). The EU crisis affects all young people in these member states, however the impact is different for each member state. Therefore the solutions should be diversified as well. During the training course participants learned about these differences and look for similarities. With these similarities we encouraged them to start-up future partnerships.

We used the model of a social incubator to offer the participants a creative environment to develop their project ideas. All participants were young volunteers or professional youth workers active in local youth work. During the preparation of the TC, they conceptualised project ideas to cater for their local needs. These project ideas were developed further during the training (incubation) into feasible EU project applications. In order to do so we offered a series of workshops in which the participants focussed on different aspects of project development and social entrepreneurship. Every day we concluded the workshops with a “cooperative working space” in which the participants can work on their individual projects, implementing the learning outcomes of the workshops.

The training course was organised by Confe Don Bosco, in cooperation with DBYN’s international secretariat and Pool of Trainers. The project was co-financed by the Erasmus+-programme.
