Back to Square One

Picture
From 15th to 18th October 2015 the international network of Salesian youth work offices and organisations Don Bosco Youth-Net (DBYN) gathered at the “Salesianum” in Munich for the “Back to Square One” seminar.

The seminar “Back To Square One” focused on the possibility of creating new opportunities and concepts of youth exchanges and ideal mobility. Through interactive activities, planning workshops, simulation of international working groups, the meeting implemented a training programme for staff members and volunteers of the member organizations, as well as an exchange of experiences and information. Great emphasis was given to the presentation of the possibilities offered by Erasmus+ (European Programme for education, training, youth and sport) and its ability to create new opportunities through international projects. The participants were then trained in the use of youth exchanges promoted by the European Union as a means of social inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities.

The ideal moment for everyone to share prospective new projects was represented by the usual “Exchange Market”, an exchange of ideas and proposals which have been put forward by each participating country looking for possible synergies and collaborations. The final evening was devoted to an intercultural dinner where each organization brought some of its most typical and delicious sweets and desserts: a moment of leisure and multiculturalism for everyone.

The seminar was hosted by DBYN’s German member organisation Aktionszentrum Benediktbeuern.  It brought together volunteers and staff of all DBYN member organizations from of Spain, Germany, Slovakia, Slovenia, Belgium, Malta, Czech Republic, Great Britain, Poland, the Netherlands and Italy. The seminar was funded through the Erasmus+ programme of the European Commission.

The seminar will be organized in the Jugendwohnheim Salesianum in Munich. This is a youth house  for different target groups and with great facilities for conferences and seminars. The venue is in the heart of Munich, very close to the train station and only 35 minutes (S-Bahn) from the airport. The accomodation offers all necessary infrastructure which is needed to host groups.  Aktionszentrum and the staff of Salesianum will take care of all arrangements with the venue so we have adequate sleeping accommodation and meeting facilities.
